Asbestos was commonly used in building materials, including some school desks, prior to the 1980s. However, many schools have since replaced or encapsulated these desks to prevent exposure to asbestos fibers. To clean school desks, start by removing any items from the desk surface. Use a disinfectant spray or wipes to thoroughly clean the desk, paying special attention to high-touch areas like the desktop, edges, and handles.
